How does Jonah relate to Christian Domestic Discipline?

 

Since most of my posts to date have related to Christian Domestic Discipline, you might be wondering how the story of Jonah relates to Christian Domestic Discipline.

 

Well it does and it doesn’t.

 

It doesn’t in that it doesn’t directly talk of  spanking, husbands, or wives.

 

But it does tell about the storey of how God dealt with the sin of Jonah and the sin of Nineveh.

 

Did God spank Jonah?  Did he punish Jonah?  Did he strike down the Ninevites?  Did he refuse to forgive until the payment of sin was given?

 

No!

 

But if you want any more elaboration than that, you’ll have to read Jonah – Story of Sin, Punishment, and Forgiveness: Parts 1 to 7.

 

I will tell you this though: If you are going to assume that husbands are in charge of their wives, and that husbands need to deal with their wives’ sins – then at least figure out how God deals with the sins of his people?  Jonah would be a good place start.
